The judging process

The judges reserve the right not to award in a given category. The judges can determine that an entry submitted in one category be re-entered in an alternative category if in their view it stands more chance of success in that new category.

They also have the scope to highly commend a scheme or recommend a special award. They also have the ability to judge an entry that is premature or not sufficiently complete to assess fully and will encourage re-submission in a subsequent year. The decision of the judging panel in all aspects of the process is final.

How your entry will be assessed

The panel of judges, made up of experienced and respected members of the development industry, will take the following into account when assessing entries:
  • The project should be exemplary of its type, demonstrating a commitment to design excellence from client, design team and contractor. The size, complexity and value of the scheme will not be a consideration.
  • The design quality of the scheme in terms of overall vision, innovation, ingenuity, details and fitness for purpose.
  • The design team’s response to context and environmental considerations.
  • The response of occupants/end-users and other users to the scheme.

The closing date for entries is the 19 August 2016.

Following the closing date for entries, schemes will be shortlisted for a site visit by the judges after which, a final decision will be made on the award winners.

Shortlisted schemes will be notified and invited to the awards ceremony on 14 December 2016.

Winners of the awards are kept confidential until the announcement at the awards ceremony.
